Abstract

Significant pulmonary regurgitation is infrequent in the adult population and is usually related to congenital heart disease such as tetralogy of Fallot, other entities such as carcinoid syndrome, endocarditis, rheumatic disease, or may be related to the presence of pulmonary hypertension. Transthoracic echocardiography is the first line technique to quantify the degree of insufficiency, it provides anatomical, functional and ventricular remodeling information. The reference technique in this context is cardiac magnetic resonance.
