We are delighted to welcome you to the December 2025 issue of RETIC.

We close the year with an excellent issue, which begins with a spectacular editorial entitled “Echocardiography as a global tool: reflections after 50 years in our Spanish-speaking world.”

This issue includes two reviews of great interest. The first analyzes myocardial deformation using magnetic resonance imaging and discusses its methods, techniques, and clinical applications. The second focuses on the ultrasound evaluation of gastric contents (POCGUS) prior to transesophageal echocardiography and highlights its advantages and recommendations for its application in clinical practice.

The issue is rounded off with ten clinical cases selected for their educational value and diagnostic richness. Among them, the editors would like to highlight one: anomalous origin of the left main pulmonary artery (ALCAPA), a condition as rare as it is fascinating, which undoubtedly becomes one of the main features of this issue.

We invite you to explore this new edition of RETIC, produced with rigor and dedication to continue inspiring those who share a passion for echocardiography and cardiovascular imaging.
