The parasternal long-axis view (PLAX) is considered a crucial component of standard echocardiographic examination and should be included in both focused studies and comprehensive echocardiographic evaluations. This view provides a sufficiently broad initial approach to recognize cardiac anatomy and function, particularly of the left-sided structures. This review aims to explore the technical and acquisition aspects, ultrasound anatomy, recommendations, and potential pitfalls associated with this ultrasound window.
