Abstract

We present the case of a 61-year-old man who was referred to our unit with a diagnosis of ventricular septal rupture
as a complication of an anterior ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. He was admitted to the Coronary Care Unit, where a transthoracic and transesophageal ultrasound was performed, which detected an apical septal ventricular septal defect. This case highlights the importance of ultrasound in infarction and of early diagnosis of its complications.
