Pericardial agenesis as an incidental finding in a psychophysiological examination of a military personnel’s member of the Argentine Air Force. Case report.

Pericardial agenesis is an extremely rare and infrequent congenital anomaly. Most patients are asymptomatic, so diagnosis is incidental and delayed. Diagnostic suspicion is based on imaging through indirect signs such as chest X-ray or color Doppler echocardiogram and is confirmed by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance imaging or autopsy. Suspicion of pericardial agenesis is important in the case of partial defects due to the risk of myocardial strangulation, ischemia, or sudden death. We present the case of an incidental diagnosis of pericardial agenesis during a routine psychophysiological examination of a patient who was a military personnel member in the Argentine Air Force. Here, we show the “key” signs of this anomaly on multimodal cardiac image.
