The mitral annular disjunction is defined as the separation between the left atrium-mitral valve and the theoretical point of insertion of the left ventricle at the level of the mitral valve annulus. This pathology is most frequently present in patients with myxomatous valvular pathology and/or mitral valve prolapse. In the last decade, the advance of transesophageal three-dimensional echocardiography has allowed a better study and anatomical understanding of this patology. We present the case of a patient with mitral annular disjunction and the bibliographical revision.
