The echocardiography quantifies the thickness of the ventricular walls and the ventricular width, necessary for the calculation of the left ventricular mass. Mass is along with age, the main predictor of developing cardiovascular disease. Identifying patients with left ventricular hypertrophy is essential to stratify the risk of patients with heart diseases (hypertensive heart disease, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, etc.).
We describe the appropriate methodology to obtain a correct measurement that allows confirming the diagnostic, analyzing the improvement or regression of the hypertrophy and avoiding, to some extent, the variability observed in routine echocardiographic assessments
