Infective endocarditis is a pathology with a high mortality rate, approximately 20-40% within the first year. The main manifestations include fever (90%), new-onset murmur (85%), and embolic manifestations (25%). Echocardiography is the main imaging study. Among the complications of infective endocarditis, valve perforations occur in 15%, most commonly affecting the aortic valve, and 15% of these cases will have concomitant mitral involvement due to direct contact of these valves during diastole, 10-20 % of cases will present negative cultures.
