Infrequent complication of biological prostheses

We introduce a case of an 86-year-old patient with severe mitral regurgitation requiring a biological mitral valve implant who 6 months after surgery developed an early prosthetic dysfunction due to thrombosis. A diagnostic transthoracic and three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiogram was perform and the patient was treated with anticoagulant therapy with satisfactory clinical outcome.
