Cardiac imaging laboratories have an increasing need for sonographers to be able to manage the echocardiogram requests they receive. However, the position of sonographer is not yet a specifically recognized healthcare profession and this means that each hospital has to find a way to fit the positions within its needs, its work regulations and its legal context. In this brief article we present an example of the challenges to be overcome.
