Cardioembolic source search: why the aorta should not be forgotten

aorta, cardioembolic source, thrombus.Abstract
A 42-year-old male patient with signs of recurrent intestinal ischemia, in whom it was verified that the source of cardioembolic cause was in the descending aorta and presented thrombotic characteristics, that were later confirmed in pathology.
Despite not being a cardiac structure, the thoracic aorta must be evaluated systematically in patients with suspected embolic pathology, although it is less common, it has a high value in patient’s morbidity and mortality.
