Abstract

Post-traumatic ventricular septal defect (VSD) is a rare, serious entity with high mortality. Diagnostic insight and rapid surgical resolution can lead to successful outcomes1,2. We present a case of a young man with chest trauma from a stab weapon who presented with cardiac tamponade. The application of ultrasound (POCUS), identifies a VSD that was repaired. The application of POCUS contributes both to the diagnosis and management of certain pathologies and their complications. It can guide the surgical approach, improving the patient's outcome and prognosis
