The lateral mouth opener is an elastic bite block widely used by dentist and maxillofacial surgeons to keep open the mouth of the patient in any type of procedures. This device makes easier the probe pass in transesophageal echocardiography and allows to perform the procedure in a more secure way. This article is a detailed step to step tutorial about how to use it.
