The diagnosis of acute inflammatory cardiomyopathy can be challenging. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a key test because it can detect the presence of myocardial edema, hyperemia or fibrosis. Positron emission tomography (PET) could be a more direct way to identify acute inflammatory cardiomyopathy and to quantify the metabolic activity of the disease.
