A 42-year-old woman with grade II dyspnea and palpitations. The transthoracic echocardiogram shows a double left ventricular chamber: an upper and a lower one separated by a contractile muscle band that is directed towards the free wall.
Contrast-enhanced cardiac magnetic resonance (MR) imaging shows a contractile muscle band separating the left ventricle (LV). Late enhancement was not demonstrated, ruling out the ischemic-necrotic cause and confirming the muscular composition of both cardiac chambers.
There are few references about this condition in the literature, being frequent in association with congenital heart disease.
