Tako-Tsubo cardiomyopathy or stress cardiomyopathy is a cardiac syndrome characterized by chest pain, transient left ventricle dysfunction and electrocardiographic changes that can mimic acute myocardial infarction in absence of obstructive coronary artery disease. Few cases of Tako-Tsubo cardiomyopathy in childhood have been described. We report the case of a 3-year-old-girl with repaired ventricular septal defect, with a short cardiopulmonary support time and aortic cross-clamp time, who experienced acute left ventricular dysfunction with apical ballooning without coronary arterial involvement, suggesting Tako-Tsubo cardiomyopathy.
