Endocarditis del lado derecho y comunicación interventricular restrictiva, un desafío ecocardiográfico: reporte de caso

Resumen

La endocarditis infecciosa (EI) del lado derecho representa el 5-10% de todos los casos de EI, siendo frecuentemente asociada a cardiopatías congénitas. Aunque las comunicaciones interventriculares (CIV) restrictivas con presión pulmonar normal generalmente no requieren intervención, conllevan un riesgo de desarrollar EI u otras complicaciones en el tiempo. Presentamos el caso de un varón de 38 años con antecedente de CIV restrictiva no reparada que desarrolló EI por Streptococcus mitis tras un procedimiento dental. El paciente fue tratado exitosamente con antibioterapia prolongada, sin requerir intervención quirúrgica.
