We report the case of a 78-year-old woman with a mechanical aortic prosthesis, who presented to the emergency room with fever and other nonspecific symptoms in the context of COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. This was the cause of a delay in the diagnosis and in the start of antibiotic treatment, with the development of complications and poor evolution despite surgical intervention.
