Complete cardiovascular care must cover not only strictly cardiac pathology but also vascular-arterial pathology, which can sometimes involve greater risk than coronary artery disease. Acute arterial ischemia has high early morbidity and mortality. It is essential to instruct health professionals for urgent diagnosis and treatment and thus reverse the adverse prognosis mentioned above. In case of clinical suspicion, vascular ultrasound is key to confirm diagnosis, define viability or not of the limb and the need for urgent treatment. This information will result in the indication of urgent revascularization or even amputation of the limb. In this work we will address the key points for an adequate clinical and ultrasonographic assessment of these patients.
