Echocardiography is the fundamental tool for monitoring valve prostheses. Obstructive prosthetic thrombosis has an incidence ranging from 0.3% to 1.3% per-patient-per-year. The main risk factor is inadequate anticoagulation, and once it occurs, the therapeutic approach will depend on the patient’s clinical status and comorbidities. The case of a patient with obstructive mitral prosthetic thrombosis successfully treated with fibrinolysis is presented.
